Contamination meters

The contamination meters are portable instruments for the verification of radioactive or environmental contamination. They measure the emission (or Activity) of the sources.

Fields of Use

The contamination meters are used in nuclear medicine and on tips to detect the presence of potentially dangerous radioactive materials. Industrial scrap and medical residues are controlled (as are the clothing of patients undergoing radioactive therapies) before they are disposed of.

Calibration and certification

The Comecer Calibration Centre detects the measurement precision of the radioactivity taken by the contamination meters.
On completion the Comecer Calibration Centre issues a report relative to the quantity of “Activity”, expressed in Bq.

Recommended times

Comecer recommends periodic reading of the contamination meters, at least once a year.
