SIT Calibration Activities are Suspended Until Late March 2011

The Comecer Calibration Centre has moved from its old premises in Via Emilia Ponente 390 – Castel Bolognese, Italy to new facilities in Via Maestri del Lavoro – Castel Bolognese, Italy.
SIT calibration activities are suspended until validation of our SIT accreditation by the competent body (ENEA), scheduled for late March 2011.

Non-SIT calibration services are already available at the new premises.

Notice for those with calibration certificates due

In view of the impending relocation of the Comecer Calibration Centre to new premises, during which we will not be able to issue SIT certificates for about three months, we recommend that you send us now machines whose SIT certificate is expiring.

The following table shows a minimum time of suspension of operations for each type of instrument to be calibrated. The period of stop is calculated from the date when relocation begins. It does not depend directly on Comecer but on the schedules of the Certification Authorities.

Note: the suspension only applies to SIT certificates. Those who use Comecer calibration certificates will not be delayed.

Summer closure and relocation

The summer starts and the Comecer Calibration Centre is preparing to move to its new facilities.
While we wait for the necessary permissions to proceed with the transfer to the new, larger premises, we wish to remind you to use the online Estimate Request forms, and the work order, if provided by your organization, before sending your instruments for calibration.

In this way will be able to tell you when calibration will take place and reduce to a minimum the time your instruments will be at our centre for calibration.

Summer Closure

Comecer Calibration Centre will be closed for summer holidays from August 9 to August 20, 2010. We will reopen on Monday, August 23.

Your calibration file on Expiry Reminder

The Expiry Reminder now offers a new service for our customers. Along with the email notifications and the possibility to view on line all your calibration certificates, it is now possible to download the calibration files for each instrument.

Italy chooses a unique body for accreditation: it is Accredia

The publication in the Official Gazette n. 20 dated 26 January 2010 officially ratifies which is the Unique Body for accreditation. The Interministerial Decree dated 22 December 2009, states that Accredia has been appointed “unique Italian national body authorised to perform accreditation activity ad market surveillance in compliance with the regulation (CE) n. 765/2008, for the purpose and effects of article 4, paragraph 4, of the Law dated 23 July 2009, n. 99″, implementing that requested by Regulation 765/2008 of the European Community.

The appointment of Accredia has already been communicated to the European Commission and to EA (The European Accreditation Infrastructure).

Insert in the Agenda of the Health physicist

In the Agenda of the Health Physicist 2010 promoted by the Gruppo Laboratori Protex there is also the Comecer Calibration Centre.

The yearly publication is a useful instrument developed for companies and operators interested in radioprotection in the various ambits of application: nuclear medicine, disposal and storage of contaminated waste, tips, scrap dealers and in general, any ambit where man and the environment interact with radioactive sources.

The agenda contains a useful insert where, among other things, tables can be found for the conversion of exposure measurements, activity, dose absorbed and dose equivalent; a useful table of radioisotopes and other technical data for quick consultation.
