Gamma-ray Radiation Room

In the room for gamma ray radiation, find two irradiators:

  1. IRP1 single-source irradiation plant (with sealed source of Co60, initial activity equal to 2.5 TBq);
  2. IR7S multi-source irradiation plant containing sealed sources of:
  • 241Am (initial activity 11.1 GBq)
  • 137Cs (initial activity 0.111 GBq)
  • 137Cs (initial activity 1.85 GBq)
  • 137Cs (initial activity 37 GBq)
  • 60Co (initial activity 3.7 GBq)

In particular, Accredia certification is performed for the quantity of exposure, Kerma in air, dose equivalent with ISO 4037 beams relative to the types of instruments:

  • Measurement assemblies (whole-body radiation meters , electrometers and ionisation chambers)
  • Passive dosimeters in air and on ISO phantoms

and the issue of the Comecer Calibration Report for the Radioprotection characterisation of instruments and materials (gloves, shielding, lead aprons…) for radioprotection use.
